HISTORY
Building upon specific experience of Roy McInnes of our Perth office and Rainstorm's general knowledge and expertise in the field of dust suppression, we added a new facet to our dust suppression services. At the end of 1999 Rainstorm purchased one of Western Australia's largest hydromulching companies "CSR Sandstill" In 2001 we added the hydromulching interests of "Grass Growers" and "Sands Soil Stabilizing" to Rainstorm Western Australia, so we can now offer a complete and unrivalled service to the government, mining and civil contracting industries in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

'Hydromulching POWER! A display of some of Rainstorm's 17 hydromulching units at our Maddington yard in WA' DESCRIPTION
With Rainstorm's specialized fleet of hydromulching vehicles (currently 17 units) we can quickly and efficiently hydromulch large areas. We are equipped to spray a variety of products via high capacity water cannon, fan or boom sprays or by hand-held hose. We usually apply mulched newsprint or our Gluon 240 at a rate of up to 10 hectares per day. Our trucks are either 4wd or 6wd and we have a 4wd Mercedes 'dinosaur' which is perfect for soft sands and tailings dams. All of our gear has high capacity agitators and experienced personnel. This means when the notorious "Easterlies" blown in and your jobsite has turned into a sandstorm we can move quickly to alleviate the problem.

APPLICATIONS
We have applied hydromulch on a wide variety of job sites. Our primary value is to civil contractors who have opened up large, sandy areas to construct subdivisions. Rainstorm will usually pin down the raw sand with either papermulch or gluon to enable work to commence and to keep the surrounding neighbourhood 'dust-free'. As development nears completion and the blocks are about to go on the market, we are called in to re-apply mulch with green dye, seed and fertilizer added. This provides an attractive outlook for prospective land buyers.

Other regular customers of Rainstorm's hydromulching division are the large minesites. Dust can be a mission critical factor which can shut down a minesite if levels are too high. It is also a continual sore point with the surrounding community. This is why an increasing number of mine managers are choosing to have Rainstorm treat all open soil areas before windblown dust arises. Of course, when the time comes to rehabilitate a minesite with native seeds, hydromulching is the quick, cheap and effective method of revegetating large areas.
